The Microbial Quality of Herbal Products

Background: Consumption of herbal products has increased dramatically during the last few decades. Although there have been allegations that are made in unsanitary conditions resulting microbial contamination and health hazards consumed by patients.
 Aim: The study is aimed at investigating quality commonly sold Abraka, Delta State, Nigeria.
 Methods: A total seven (7) liquid (AB, GW, EC, IM, DR, GC BM) were randomly purchased from local shops pharmacy Abraka. Samples aseptically measured out around zones a Bunsen fame viable bacteria fungi counts samples determined using serial dilution spread plate method.
 Results: bacterial count ranged 1.8 x 106 to 7.5 106. Proteus spp had highest frequency occurrence with percentage 50% while Staphylococcus spp. occurred least 10% Candida for isolates Aspergillus niger flavus occurs less 10 20% respectively. also revealed Tarivid, Streptomycin Gentamycin susceptible all isolated average zone inhibition 18.25±1.39, 19.75±3.39 23.13±2.0.8 respectively.
 Conclusion: finding this Abrakawere contaminated microorganisms, some which pathogenic thus, these can serve as means spreading infections among consumers.
